Upcoming Lecture with Rev. Dr. Shively T.J. Smith, Thurman Scholar

This month CRCDS honors the memory of Rev. Dr. Howard Thurman, noted CRCDS alumni, through hosting a lecture with Rev. Dr. Shively T. J. Smith, who currently serves as Assistant Professor of New Testament at Boston University School of Theology. Dr. Smith is the youngest Thurman Scholar in the United States. Dr. Smith’s lecture is titled “Exploring the Black Contemplative tradition and interpretation through Howard Thurman“.

We welcome you to join us for this lecture and contemplative practice. You are encouraged to prepare your space: set aside some time to be present to yourself and the world around you prepared to engage your head, heart and hands. Feel free to bring any props that may help assist you in curating this space, for some this may be a cup of coffee/tea, a candle or for others, paints/markers. We look forward to seeing you virtually, on April 27th at 4:15pm (Eastern).

Register for this lecture here.
