The Rochester Business Journal’s (RBJ) Power 100 was announced on February 10, 2023.
Years in current role: 3.5
What are your priorities for 2023?
The beginning of a new calendar year is an invitation to reflect anew on the significance of progressive theological education as a gift to this region and the world. As such, 2023 priorities include a relaunch of Engaging Rochester, a listening-learning initiative with persons across a broad sector of the city and county; continued outreach and cultivation of relationships with religious leaders; and discerning what is required for our seminary to become a more resourceful collaborator in response to injustice.
What advice would you give young professionals in the Rochester business community?
I would encourage young professionals to ask questions, to read daily, to appreciate the value of mentorship, to volunteer with an organization whose mission and core values align with theirs, to establish and honor boundaries, to respect others, and to have fun.
What do you think will be different about the Rochester community in five years?
I am hopeful that in five years qualitative and quantitative data will indicate that the Rochester community is living out its commitment to be a more equitable and just place for all, but most especially for our residents who live in impoverished conditions.
What is your favorite way to relieve stress?
Hmmm … sitting quietly in an oversized chair sipping early tea as a spiritual discipline that allows me to recenter, to quiet my inner voice, and to just be still.
