A new Spiritual Care training program is coming to Rochester! Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, East House Corporation and St. Marks and St. John’s Episcopal Church will host students for a pilot Community Based CPE program that will help to prepare people to provide basic spiritual care and emotional support to individuals in community agency settings. Up to eight students will be accepted for the unit beginning on January 22, 2020. Students will meet at St. Mark’s and St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1245 Culver Rd Rochester, NY 14609, for class instruction in a group setting for 5 hours per week over 20 weeks. Students will also be assigned to serve as a spiritual presence in one or two community sites for an average of 15 hours per week. At their sites, students will have an opportunity to interact with those who come for assistance and help facilitate groups with a staff member. The goal is to help individuals, lay and ordained, develop their skill as spiritual caregivers in an interfaith setting so that they use those skills in their congregations, their communities and their lives.
