October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the United States. This observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about an issue that affects people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. The color purple is a symbol of peace, courage and survival and is used to honor victims of domestic violence. The purple light in the CRCDS bell tower will be lit throughout the month of October as a way to bring awareness to this issue.
