As another academic year begins, I am grateful to join the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School community. The current moment is filled with myriad challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities. I sense that our invitation in this moment is to be attentive to the work that God is doing within us and the ways that God is inviting us to be transformed. Simultaneously, there is a responsibility to be faithful to the work that God has entrusted to us that leads to the manifestation of God’s love, goodness and justice in the world. What a gracious invitation and opportunity!
In this season, I draw strength, comfort and enthusiasm from one of my favorite passages of scripture, Ephesians 2:10 [We are God’s poetry, God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do]. May our eyes, our hands and our hearts be open to see and to embrace the good works that God is inviting us to do in this season.
I look forward to connecting and collaborating with you in the year ahead toward our mutual transformation and our continued work for peace and justice in the world.
