Interim Choir Director: St. James’ Episcopal Church (Skaneateles, NY)

As the Interim Part Time Director of an adult choir, you will be a “shepherd of volunteers” supporting congregational singing in a traditional liturgical worship setting.

Your musical skills and ability to interpret a piece of music, developed from experience, has resulted in knowledge of the construction, style and text of a piece of music.

You are able to convey to a choir how you want the music to sound through your verbal communication and conducting skills, bringing that interpretation to life.

Your ability to teach and promote understanding of and appreciation for choral music is demonstrative of your love and respect for musical excellence, and a relationship with the Lord.

Working in collaboration with the Rector, organist and as needed, other musicians, you will choose and select religious music appropriate for liturgies of the year.

People may describe your style as enthusiastic, collaborative, creative, fun and with a clear vision for how music can help create excellence in worship, and engage the congregation in participation.

As a leader challenged to continually learn and grow, you are able to inspire and encourage additional membership in the choir.

Large, metropolitan, socially active Presbyterian church, with a long-standing commitment to an active, visible ministry of music, seeks a full-time Associate Director of Music. This is an integral part of our total worship and Christian education program.
