On Wednesday, November 6th, Bishop Mark J. Webb, Episcopal leader of the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, visited the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School campus for a day of worship, discussion and fellowship. In the morning, Bishop Webb was the guest preacher at the daily chapel service, sharing his reflections on Joshua 4:1-11.
Bishop Webb reminded all in attendance to respond daily to God’s continual call and challenged them to engage in self-evaluation, to remember God’s continual presence and work and to remain committed to spreading the joy of Jesus Christ and the building of the Kingdom. Following worship, Bishop Webb joined students, alumni/ae, faculty, staff and members of the community for a luncheon conversation centered on the many challenges and opportunities for renewing and revitalizing the Church in our age.
Bishop Webb thanked CRCDS for its excellent work in preparing Christian leaders, and challenged the school to provide practical, skill-based education alongside the standard theological curriculum whenever possible. Bishop Webb completed his time on the Hill with a meeting with the CRCDS Wesley Society. Colgate Rochester Crozer wishes to express its deep gratitude to Bishop Webb for the generous gift of his time and wisdom during his visit. We look forward to a deep and lasting collaborative friendship among CRCDS, the Bishop and the Upper New York Annual Conference.
