The Ambrose Swasey Library at CRCDS
Ambrose Swasey Library at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School offers a collection of more than 6,000 core books onsite, a peaceful reading room for study and the exchange of ideas, and one-on-one research help from the theological reference librarian.
Through CRCDS’s affiliation with the University of Rochester (UR) River Campus Libraries, CRCDS students, faculty, and staff enjoy access to the UR River Campus Libraries’ extensive, multidisciplinary physical and digital collection, including books and e-books, as well as 100s of research databases and 1,000s of academic and professional journals.
Current CRCDS students, faculty, and staff are granted the same borrowing privileges as UR River Campus students, faculty, and staff. Physical materials are delivered between the libraries 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday. Books requested from other UR River Campus Libraries will be available for pickup at Ambrose Swasey Library within 48-72 hours.
University of Rochester River Campus Libraries website, library.rochester.edu, is CRCDS’s main portal for:
- Ambrose Swasey Library catalog (physical books and DVDs at CRCDS)
- Course Reserves (CRCDS and UR)
- UR River Campus Libraries catalog (all books, e-books, and media current CRCDS students, faculty, and staff can access)
- Journals and magazines (physical and electronic)
- Research databases (NetID login required, see below)
Hours
Hours may vary based on the CRCDS academic calendar and the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, so please call or email ahead to confirm if you are uncertain.
Updated Fall 2020 Hours: September 8 – November 23
Due to the continuing global pandemic, library drop-in hours are limited for Fall 2020. The library will be open for students for in-person research (through Nov. 23 only), contactless book pickup, and curbside pickup and drop off:
Mondays: 2 PM – 6 PM
Note: After the Thanksgiving holiday, no access to the space will be granted.
Outside of those hours, arrangements must be made in advance (preferably 12 hours or more ahead of time), as staff are primarily remote until further notice. Appointments can be set for Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 6 PM by contacting Reference Librarian Desirae Zingarelli-Sweet at dzsweet@crcds.edu, 585-340-9601 (library phone), or 585-484-0704.
Anyone doing in-person research in the library must sign in, wear a mask, and complete a brief COVID-19 screening. A maximum of 3 patrons will be allowed in the library at a time, so you may be asked to wait a few minutes before entering.
Visitor Hours
Alumni are welcome during the above times on a space-available basis but must make an appointment 12 hours in advance. To see availability and book an appointment, visit: calendly.com/dzsweet/crcds-library. Other visitors will be welcome to visit the library once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Book Returns
Books can be dropped off at CRCDS during open hours or at any UR River Libraries location. After hours, books can be returned to the book drop in the vestibule at the back entrance of the 320 N. Goodman St.
